SKF exhibits at Global Wind Summit to exchange wind energy knowledge and showcase its latest products
09 Aug,2018
At the world’s largest wind energy event, SKF will exhibit its spherical-roller bearings for wind turbine main shafts as well as other solutions for the wind energy industry.
Gothenburg, Sweden, 8 August 2018: As an active member of WindEurope, SKF will play a key role in the Global Wind Summit where the company will exchange industry knowledge via presentations and on its exhibition stand.
The Global Wind Summit is a combination of the WindEnergy Exhibition and WindEurope Conference and takes place in Hamburg, Germany between the 25th and 28th September.
SKF is proud to showcase its products, designed specifically for the wind energy sector. On display will be the company’s latest spherical roller bearings for wind turbine main shafts. These advanced bearings improve turbine reliability and bearing life, which helps to reduce the cost of energy generation. The new spherical roller bearings support the world’s goal of clean, sustainable energy by providing improved performance, increased reliability and longevity, full compatibility with existing systems and best in class performance. They feature a significant reduction in weight, optimised internal geometry and improved lubrication capabilities to ensure lower contact pressures and enhanced load carrying capacity.
The company will also demonstrate its Multilog condition monitoring system IMx8. This is a powerful monitoring tool that provides a complete system for early fault detection, prevention, automatic advice and advanced maintenance for improved reliability and performance. The book-sized unit offers 8 channel health monitoring and is the company’s most compact, easy to use monitoring tool to date. The IMx8 is Internet-enabled, providing remote access in real time for in-depth analysis.
In addition, to showcasing the above products, SKF is pleased to demonstrate how the company supports its customers by providing key industry insights and knowledge via its extensive and informative news hub. The Wind Farm Management Blog is a well visited site as it is regularly updated with articles and news relating to the wind power industry.
Visitors to the booth will also discover more about SKF’s Large Size Bearing Test Centre, which is able to test bearings under actual operating conditions. The €40m test centre is key to developing new and innovative products and ensuring reliability before they reach the market. In the centre, it is possible to test bearings with an outer ring diameter of up to six metres, with extreme bending moments and dynamic loading conditions.
SKF experts will be in attendance to offer information and advice on all aspects of the wind energy industry. The booth can be found in Hall B6, Stand number 370.
