Schaeffler at DTM night race premiere in Misano

23 Aug,2018

This weekend (25th to 26th of August), the first night races of the DTM history will be held in Misano - a novelty for Schaeffler driver Mike Rockenfeller as well.

Summer, sun, hot asphalt action - in Misano Adriatico, the DTM fans will experience two very special premieres: the small Italian holiday resort makes its debut as the host of a DTM event, and races of the popular touring car series will be held for the first time at night.

The venue for the spectacular event is the 4.2-kilometer Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The DTM starts after Adria and Mugello on the third Italian racetrack. The two 55-minute races will start on Saturday and Sunday at 22:30. At a similar time of the day, only a qualifying session at the Nürburgring took place in 2003. Schaeffler driver Mike Rockenfeller scored two top ten results in his Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM last time in England and hopes to take points from Italy as well.

The Schaeffler Group is mainly represented in Italy in Momo (province of Novara). The commitment includes offers for the aftermarket as well as new productions for the automotive and industrial sectors. The plant in the north of the country recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Long DTM tradition

In the early years of the DTM, Schaeffler and its product brands supported drivers and teams with motorsport and technical know-how. Since 2011, the technology concern has been named after the Schaeffler-Audi and has already celebrated great success with two titles, among others. The DTM traditionally uses vehicles with internal combustion engines. With its innovative technologies and products for the automotive industry, Schaeffler also makes an important contribution to making combustors efficient and fit for tomorrow's mobility.
