Given the rapid growth of data, centers around the world face new challenges. The ABB technology company is testing the new ABB Ability Data Center Automation solution to address these challenges with one of the fastest growing co-location data center providers in the world.

Some of the advantages of ABB Ability Data Center Automation are the optimization of data center performance, greater retention of tenants, agile communications between operations and senior management and cost reduction, for a co-location data center provider (" housing ") that tests a cloud solution from ABB.

The company ensures that thanks to this comprehensive approach to data centers, the solution offers detailed information on the performance of various data centers and devices. By concentrating all the information in a single place, you get an integrated and consolidated view of the overall performance of the data center, both locally and globally, allowing you to perform in-depth analysis and make better strategic decisions.

Another characteristic factor of this new solution is the greater accessibility offered by its control panels, capable of presenting the data clearly and completely. This knowledge translates into better operational management that optimizes the activities and the company.

"This is a new and fascinating ABB Ability Data Center Automation solution and a world first. A leading provider of co-location data centers in Singapore was the obvious choice with whom to work not only for the pilot of the project, but also as a partner of development, "says Madhav Kalia, global business director, ABB Data Center Automation.

"Given their global vision and their outstanding position in the market, they could make a valuable and constructive contribution and help us define the requirements of a minimum viable product (MVP)," adds Madhav Kalia.

One of the most important challenges facing companies today is how to mitigate the impact of data centers on the environment. ABB's new solution allows to see and monitor the power, cooling and environmental properties of data centers, being able to identify opportunities for improvement. The greater exposure of performance data to a wider audience, such as senior management, allows strategic operational decisions to be made based on accurate and up-to-date information.

By allowing monitoring and referencing KPIs and metrics, this new solution also provides insight into how these elements change over time, thus enabling the effectiveness of improvements and performance optimizations to be verified and any problem resolved. Co-location data centers need to attract new tenants and retain existing ones. By being able to evaluate the allocation of assets and the performance of the tenants, ABB's new solution allows to improve the management of the Service Level Agreements, which, in turn, entails more competitive offers and prices for the tenants, as indicated from the company.

The new ABB Ability Data Center Automation cloud solution will be available in due course. Future versions will provide more applications capable of analyzing data or providing more knowledge about predictive maintenance and optimization. ABB Ability is the unified digital offering for different industrial sectors of the company and includes more than 210 industrial solutions on the Internet and a technological and industrial platform on the Internet and cloud infrastructure.
